Train the Trainer

Prepare your staff to deliver Performance Impact training
With KnowledgePoint’s Train-the-Trainer Certification Program (TTT) for Performance Impact, you can mobilize a team of internal staff to deliver high quality, end-user training throughout your organization.

When you opt for TTT, your internal trainers attend an intensive two-day, on-site workshop that offers plenty of hands-on experience with the software and practice teaching sessions. After completing the program, participants will be able to deliver a 2-3 hour training session for managers that covers all the ins and outs of using Performance Impact effectively.

TTT offers cost savings and convenience
Maximize your training dollars. Instead of outsourcing the training function, you can save thousands of dollars by using TTT to develop your own team of Performance Impact trainers.

Print training materials yourself. The TTT program includes a license to reprint training materials as needed – a significant savings compared to ordering and shipping pre-printed manuals.

Schedule training at your convenience. Once you have a certified team of Performance Impact trainers in place, you can deploy them whenever needed – for training new employees or providing “refreshers” – without incurring any extra costs.

TTT Enhances Performance Management
The cost savings of the train-the-trainer approach may be its most obvious benefit, but KnowledgePoint’s TTT does much more than simply save your organization money. TTT can help your organization to more effectively utilize Performance Impact – maximizing your financial investment, and, even more importantly, ensuring that you achieve your performance management goals.

Develop a team of internal champions. Once your trainers achieve TTT certification, they’ll be in an excellent position to internally promote and support your organization’s performance management strategy, goals, and processes.

Improve retention. One of the top reasons employees give for voluntary resignations is dissatisfaction with their managers. Typical complaints include poor communication, receiving little or no performance feedback, and a sense that performance standards are unclear or applied unfairly. Your team of TTT trainers can help managers understand how to use Performance Impact to clearly communicate performance standards to their employees – and keep performance feedback coming all year long.

Build in-house expertise. No matter how well a software program is designed, it can be underutilized unless people learn to use it effectively. And while Performance Impact has a highly intuitive and straightforward interface, proper training will ensure that your workforce is making full use of the software. Your TTT trainers will become intimately familiar with the many special features of Performance Impact that can improve communication between managers and employees – and save managers time.

Maintain consistency. Inconsistent practices not only put your organization at grave legal risk, but can also contribute to poor employee morale. Deploying a team of trainers who have all completed KnowledgePoint’s carefully designed, standardized curriculum can help ensure consistent implementation of your organization’s performance management processes.

How it works
Phase 1: Candidate Selection
KnowledgePoint's master trainer will help you select a group of up to six TTT candidates who will go through the certification process and deliver end-user training to your managers.

Phase 2: TTT Workshop
Prior to the workshop, KnowledgePoint sends one master set of documentation and a CD containing all the training materials you’ll need, ready to print at your convenience. Your two-day TTT workshop is led by one of KnowledgePoint’s experienced master trainers, who will demonstrate proven training methods, provide practice teaching experience and feedback, administer a certification quiz, and lead trainees through a thorough orientation to the training curriculum.

Phase 3: Monitored Training Delivery
Following the TTT workshop, your KnowledgePoint master trainer is available to provide TTT candidates with telephone coaching and support as needed prior to their initial training sessions. You and/or the KnowledgePoint master trainer will observe the initial sessions and provide feedback to the trainers.

Phase 4: Evaluation and Certification
Candidates who successfully complete their initial training sessions become certified Performance Impact trainers, with the skills and confidence to deliver end-user training sessions throughout your organization.

End-User Training

This option is for clients who wish to have an experienced KnowledgePoint trainer directly train the designated end-users of Performance Impact. A maximum of two 3-4 hour sessions per day can provide hands-on training for as many as 20 managers (assuming 10 computer stations). If computer training is not available, larger numbers can be prepared by watching the trainer demonstrate the program on a classroom screen. The hands-on alternative is the preferred approach since it provides direct practice with the software. The training session covers:

  • The major features and functions of Performance Impact
  • Managing employee information within Performance Impact
  • Setting goals and tracking performance during the review period
  • Completing the performance review form and development plan
  • Adding post-discussion comments and finalizing the review
