"We believe Performance Impact will help improve communication between
employer and employee, and it's our hope that this communication will
translate to better job satisfaction and employee retention," explains
a senior manager at Job Service North Dakota after using the new program.
| “We
were so impressed with the possibilities of the program, and with
the availability of an Internet hosted system, that we decided to
implement it immediately.” |
Prior to purchasing Performance Impact, Job Service
managers utilized an internal paper-based system for employee reviews.
"It was an extremely time-consuming, seven-page process; therefore, reviews
were not being completed," says Human Resources Director Sheila Vetter.
"We felt we needed to take responsibility as an employer and give managers
the proper tools before we could hold them accountable."
Vetter chose KnowledgePoint's Performance Impact Hosted from among four
programs she examined because of its cost, ease-of-use, customization
features and the ability for managers to access the program from work,
home or while traveling. Other senior managers were also excited about
the system's ability to translate ratings into text, set and measure goals,
keep track of performance issues year-round and provide coaching ideas
to develop employees.
"We were so impressed with the possibilities of the program, and with
the availability of an Internet hosted system, that we decided to implement
it immediately," says Julie Rostberg, senior personnel director.
Within two months, Job Service was up and running with its new employee
management tool. A trainer from KnowledgePoint trained Vetter in using
Performance Impact and Vetter then trained Rostberg to help her train
the management staff.
While finding the program easy to use, both Rostberg and Vetter were
happy that they had taken advantage of the training KnowledgePoint included
as part of the sales package. "The training was very effective and,
because we introduced the new software just prior to review time, it
was fresh in managers' minds as they started to do their reviews," says
Rostberg. "We are now looking forward to fine-tuning our utilization
of the system and feel very good about its potential."
